Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 15, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how Lava Stairs (“we”, “the app”) handles information when you use the mobile app.
TL;DR
- We do not create user accounts. There is no login.
- The app stores your high score locally on your device only.
- We show ads through Google AdMob, which uses device identifiers to personalize ads. You can opt out via the iOS App Tracking Transparency prompt or in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
- If you buy the “Remove Ads” in-app purchase, RevenueCat processes the purchase receipt for us. Apple processes the actual payment.
- We don’t sell your data.
Data We Collect
| Data | Source | Why | Linked to you | Tracking |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Best score, sound & haptics preference | Stored locally on your device (localStorage) |
App functionality | No | No |
| Anonymous device identifier (IDFA) | Google AdMob (only if you allow tracking) | Personalized advertising | No | Yes |
| Coarse advertising performance data | Google AdMob | Ad measurement | No | Yes |
| Anonymous purchase receipt + RevenueCat user ID | RevenueCat | Verify and restore in-app purchase | No (anonymous device-scoped ID) | No |
| Crash diagnostics | Apple (default iOS reporting) | Bug fixes | No | No |
If you deny the App Tracking Transparency prompt, AdMob will not access your IDFA and will serve non-personalized ads.
Third-Party Services
- Google AdMob — banner advertising. Privacy policy
- RevenueCat — in-app purchase verification. Privacy policy
- Apple — App Store purchases, crash reporting. Privacy policy
Your Choices
- Opt out of ad personalization: iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking → toggle off “Lava Stairs”, or deny the tracking prompt when first shown.
- Remove ads entirely: Purchase the “Remove Ads” upgrade from the in-app Settings screen.
- Clear local data: Delete the app from your device. All locally stored scores and preferences are removed.
Children
The app is rated 4+ and does not knowingly collect data from users under 13. We do not target children with ads. The only stored data is local high-score state on the device, which is erased when the app is deleted.
Data Retention
- Local device data: persists on your device until you delete the app.
- AdMob ad data: per Google’s retention policy.
- RevenueCat purchase data: retained per RevenueCat’s policy and required by Apple to support purchase restoration.
